Thirteen women go on stage to tell their stories of war and terror as Syrian Refugees with an adaptation of Euripides' Greek tragedy 'Trojan Women'. What first started out as a creative workshop turned to a work of art touring in the UK and Jordan.
The play has minimal props and no set dressing, which lead to leave the audiences' full visual concentration on the casts' costumes. The silhouettes and colors were inspired by two main elements; Syrian traditional wear and each woman's story. A bride wears a dimmed grey with a veil on her head, a daughter describes her mother's love for the waters of Damascus, she wears the calm colors of the ocean. Earth colors were essential, as what these women yearn for is the land they left behind.
